In February, we took our first trip to Maui! What an amazing adventure! Although we stayed in Kanapaali...we explored most of the island. The boys were obsessed with the beach and boogie boarding. The beach gave us opportunities to swim with sea turtles and snorkel. We took a two day trip around the island via The Road to Hana, which also included a drive up to Haleakala Crater. In February, its whale season in Maui!! Whales were abundant and very active! We actually had a calf swim right next to our inflatable boat on the first whale watching trip...the mother then breached off our bow! Very exciting...we can't wait till our next trip!

Hello Stranger!
Please accept my apologies...I have a slight obsession with Facebook and forget that not EVERYONE is on it! So I will try to do better!
Guess I should sum up 2010? After three years of renting...we finally purchased a house in El Dorado Hills last May! Its a great house, but have to admit we have a "love-hate" relationship. A little background information...the house is 10 years old and was a foreclosure. Therefore, to the best of our knowledge...it was neglected 2-3 years. It also had "squatters" for a period of time. So needless to say...there was and remains a lot of work to be done...mostly aesthetics. The yard was not watered during the foreclosure process...so 90% of the landscape was dead and needed to be removed...think we hauled away two dump truck loads...and we continue to remove more. So you wonder why we bought this place...good question...we do ask ourselves often! Well, its a custom home with a lot of character...sits on top of an 800 foot ridge with AMAZING views...and has a fabulous pool and hot tub! So with a little time and elbow grease...it will make a great home! We are in the process of getting quotes for a landscaping project in the backyard, just off the pool. I hope to post before and after pictures of the house in May...so you can see the progress after one year...
Here are some views from the new homestead...
Despite the house chores...we still manage to travel and play all the time! Over spring break, we explored more of the central coast! We drove San Luis Opismo along Highway one to Monterey! We spent another summer boating in Tahoe! Grandma and Grandpa Rosencrans visited in October...so we took them to Monterey and Carmel. Dungeness Crabbing in Bodega Bay over Thanksgiving. Winter is spent skiing in Tahoe every weekend!
The boys are growing, growing, and growing! Finn started the first grade at Brooks Elementary. His favorite subjects are math and science! Chet continues at Ms Lisa's Montessori preschool part-time as well as attending preschool at Brooks. Finn is in to baseball...both playing and watching on TV. Since there are are 5 professional baseball teams in California...we don't lack for baseball. Chet enjoys hitting balls with Finn and Dad at the park and on the beach...maybe he is headed that way as well.
Greg continues to work as a scientist at AMPAC Fine Chemicals and I continue to work part-time as a cardiology nurse practitioner.
We also welcomed another member to the family...Keaton Wayne Rosencrans was born to Kevin and Chris November 7, 2010!!! The pregancy and recovery was a bit rough...but everyone is doing well now!!!
The holidays were busy busy busy! Greg's parents came out to California to spend the holidays with us. Not only did they knock off some house chores for us...but also gave Greg and I some ski dates without the kiddos!
Since the new year...we've been skiing every weekend! We've had great snow...but could use more...since its been "spring" in California for the past two weeks and there are not storms in sight...only sun and temperatures in the 60's!!
Guess that wraps up the past year! We are starting off the new year with our first trip to Maui in two weeks!! Spring break we are headed somewhere...Utah? Mammoth? Santa Barbra/Malibu? We hope to fly back to Michigan late June...will keep you posted!
As always...visitors are welcome!!

Ski Season!
Mother Nature has blessed the Sierra Nevada Mountains this year with snow! Greg and I have been to Tahoe several times to hit the slopes! Finn has also had a few opportunities and has done quite well with little training/assistance! Chet has had one run down the mountain, which was a little rough...we will keep trying! Here are a few pictures...as well as a video of Finn!
